Development/Release numbers
From Shift Linux
We will soon have a proper release scheme up. It will look like this:
Every release will be tagged in the format:
Neowin-Shift-X(A).Y(B).ZZ(C)
- A: X is the milestone number (Milestones are .5, 1, and 1.5 etc. Going up by .5 each time.) Milestones contain mostly large new features and brand new items that have made it to the stable repository.
- B: Y is Used to denote a smaller release. These releases are released in between milesones and primarily contain bugfixes and small new featues.
- C:ZZ are two numbers, denoting bug fixes. These releases contain many small bugfixes, and are used mostly on the nightly builds. These two can reach as high as .99 and start at .00 everytime a new small release comes out (a new Y release)
Example releases:
- Neowin-Shift-1.2.45: This would mean that this release is at a milestone of 1, with an old small release (because there has been 45 small bugfixes since the last medium sized release) and some new bugfixes.
- Neowin-Shift-1.0.00: This is an official milestone release, and no bug fixes or new small features have been added.
