wine

Description: wine is the best way to run many Windows programs on Linux. In fact, many of your Windows programs that won't work on Vista will work on Linux with wine.

Chances are you can find Linux replacements for most (if not all) of your Windows programs (and often the Linux versions are easier on system resources). But when you can't, you can use wine to run those programs in Linux, often faster than they will run natively in Windows.

The website below contains an excellent database on which Windows programs are known to work on wine and how to get them working.

Website: www.winehq.org

Installation: wine can be found by selecting System-->Administration-->Synaptic Package Manager. Then you can do a search for 'wine' and, when it comes up, select it for installation and apply.

After installation, this program will appear under Applications-->System Tools.
